Loosely and indirectly based on Helvetica. What is that reason? And note the terminology: a "glyph" is not the same as a "character" or "letter" The current version of Unicode, v8 as of this answer, containsassigned code pointsor almost twice as many as fit in a modern font edit: v13 upped this number toLinked 0. It is an insane font to use, and if you want local "all languages" support, go grab the Noto family or something, because those do support real languages instead of just "some glyphs".

Gentium Regular.Except it doesn't - it only implements the Basic Multilingual Plane, which isn't even half of Unicode, and it's not actually very good at being a font: it's just a character map.Forum All unicode font

Adobe Blank is an extreme specialty font, it does the opposite of a full Unicode implementation: it has a special CMAP that maps every single Unicode code point. Why not use multiple fonts and support all unicode that way?

Pretty much every font format in common use today (OpenType, TrueType) is limited to 64K uniquely encoded glyphs. That is glyphs plus notdef.Asked 10 years, 9 months ago.

Every single glyph in a font has an associated unicode reference: a unique identifier that corresponds with the same character in other typefaces.Except it doesn't - it only implements the Basic Multilingual Plane, which isn't even half of Unicode, and it's not actually very good at being a font: it's just a character map.

So I was looking at this answer on stackoverflow and realized that my fonts aren't covering a whole lot of the utf-8 unicode spectrum as I get lots of squares.
